IMPORTANT: This release of DocConverter Enterprise includes a significant change to the conversion engine. It is important that you read this FAQ: ActivePDF DocConverter Back-up Notice prior to installing DocConverter Enterprise 2010 R4.

Operating System Requirements

The following software is required for full use of DocConverter Enterprise.

  • Windows Server® 2003, x86 or x64, OR
  • Windows Server® 2008, x86 or x64

Hardware Requirements

The following are minimum hardware requirements for DocConverter Enterprise.

  • 512 MB of RAM
  • 90 MB of Disk Space (for application)

Additional Software Requirements

The following are additional software requirements for DocConverter Enterprise.

  • Microsoft Word®,Excel®,PowerPoint® (2003 minimum, 2007 or 2010 recommended)
  • Microsoft® .NET Framework 3.5, or higher (if not detected, will be installed automatically)
  • LibreOffice 3.6.2 (installed automatically by DocConverter; recommended this version be used for best results)

Note: ActivePDF does not support running DocConverter Enterprise in Remote Desktop Services (Microsoft® Windows Server 2008) or Citrix environments. DocConverter Enterprise can be run in a Terminal Services (Microsoft® Windows Server 2003 and prior) environment only in Administrative mode.

Change from KeyView to LibreOffice Conversion Engine

DocConverter Enterprise 2010 R4 includes a new conversion engine. Due to this change, we have created an updated list of supported and non-supported formats, which is available at DocConverter Enterprise 2010 R4 Supported Formats.

Bug Fixes

The following table lists fixes made in DocConverter Enterprise R4.

PDFToExcel output generates an error stating that the file format does not match the file extension (.xls) in Microsoft Excel 2007.

By default, the output type is XLSX.


FILE SPECIFIC: Line break issues with PDF to Word conversion.

The issue was resolved.


Error -10299 converting .EML file.

The issue was resolved.


Publisher and Visio signatures are present in the CUI.

These formats are no longer supported and, therefore, their signatures are removed when a clean installation of DocConverter Enterprise 2010 R4 is performed. If not performing a clean installation, the signatures are present unless the Settings folder is deleted prior to installation.

Refer to Settings Files Not Replaced by DocConverter Enterprise 2010 R4 Installer for instructions on manually replacing the DocConverter settings file when a clean installation is not possible.

Error when converting certain MSG files where the 'Sent Date' header is not in the expected internal location.
