Set up HotFolders using UNC Paths on a Remote Server

When setting up hotfolders in DocConverter it is possible to set them up on a different server using UNC paths. However, there are some items that must be set up manually in order for these hotfolders to function.

To set up hotfolders using UNC paths

1. Go to Windows Services.

Note: If you do not know how to access Windows Services, check with your System Administrator.

2. Right-click ActivePDF COM Service and select Properties.
3. Click the Log On
4. Select This Account.
5. Type the logon information for the Local Administrator account (DCAdmin) used to install DocConverter.
6. Select ActivePDF DocConverter Service or ActivePDF DocConverter Enterprise Service (depending on whether you are running DocConverter or DocConverter Enterprise, respectively) and run this service under the same Local Administrator account used in Step 2.
7. Restart the services.
8. Do one of the following:
   • Create the Identical user (Local Administrator) on the UNC machine using the same username and password as the Local Administrator account used for Steps 2 and 3. DCAdmin as the username.
   • Use a Domain user that is a Local Administrator with permissions to the remote share.
   
   
9. Add the user to have access to the folder(s).
10. Ensure that the correct paths are implemented in your application.

Note: Alternatively, you may add these folders as Watch Folders in the ActivePDF CUI. Doing so requires a restart of the DCHost and DCService in Windows Services.
